- Musnad Ali from Naji who said: He traveled with Ali: So when he was opposite Nineveh, while on his way to Siffin, he called out: "Be patient, O Abu Abdullah! Be patient, O Abu Abdullah! by the bank of the Euphrates." I said, "What is the matter?" He replied: "I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) one day, and his eyes were overflowing with tears. I said, 'O Prophet of God, has someone made you angry? What is the matter with your eyes overflowing with tears?' He said, 'Yes, Gabriel stood up from me before and told me that Hussein will be killed by the bank of the Euphrates.' Then he asked, 'Would you like me to let you smell his soil?' I said, 'Yes.' So he extended his hand, cupped a handful of soil, and gave it to me. I could not hold back my eyes from overflowing."

- From al-Mutalib ibn Allah ibn Hantab, from Umm Salamah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was sitting one day in my house and said: "Let no one enter upon me." So I waited, and al-Husayn entered. I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sobbing. I looked out, and I saw al-Husayn in his lap or beside him, wiping his head and weeping. I said: "By Allah, I did not know about it until he entered." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Gabriel was with us in the house and said: 'Do you love him?'" I replied: "As for love for the world, yes." He said: "Your nation will kill this one in a land called Karbala." Then Gabriel took some soil from there and showed it to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." When al-Husayn was surrounded and killed, he said: "What is the name of this land?" They said: "The land of Karbala." He replied: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) spoke the truth. It is a land of grief and trial."
Nashij: nashij is a sound accompanied by distress and weeping, like a mother trying to soothe a child's哭声 by repeating it in her chest.

- Umm Salamah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day and awoke, feeling weak, with a red soil in his hand that he was turning over. I said, "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Gabriel informed me that this will kill Hussein in the land of Iraq." I said to Gabriel, "Show me the soil of the land where he will be killed," and this is his soil.
- Umm Salamah narrated that Hussein entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while I was sitting at the door. I looked out and saw something in the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) palm that he was turning over while he was lying on his stomach. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I looked and saw you turning something in your hand, and the child was lying on your stomach, with tears streaming down your face." He said, "Gabriel brought me the soil on which he will be killed and informed me that my ummah will kill him."
- Anas said: An angel of rain requested permission to come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he granted it. The angel said: "Umm Salamah, keep watch at the door; let no one enter." Then Hussein ibn Ali came and jumped in until he entered, beginning to cling to the shoulder of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). The angel said to him, "Do you love him?" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied, "Yes." The angel said, "Indeed, there are those in your ummah who will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." He gestured with his hand and showed him a red soil. Umm Salamah took it and clutched it in the corner of her garment, saying, "We used to hear that he would be killed in Karbala." (Abu Nu'aym) Fadl al-Hasnayn (peace be upon them both).
