- And it was narrated to us by Abu al-Muthaffar al-Qushayri, who said: Abu Sa'd Muhammad ibn Abdul-Rahman narrated to me, saying: Abu Umr ibn Hamdan narrated to me, from my father Ya'ya, who said: Shayban ibn Furukh narrated to us, from Imarah ibn Zadhran, from Thabit ibn Anas, who said: An angel of the kingdom (or realm) sought permission from his Lord to visit the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he was granted permission. It was on the day of Umm Salamah. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O Umm Salamah, keep the door closed; do not let anyone enter upon us." While she was at the door, Al-Husayn ibn Ali came, pushed open the door, and entered. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) began to embrace him and kiss him. The angel said, "Do you love him?" He replied, "Yes."
The angel then said, "Your nation will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where they will kill him." He answered, "Yes." So the angel gathered a handful of soil from the place where he would be killed and showed it to him, bringing back a small amount of reddish soil or dust. Umm Salamah took it and placed it in her shawl....- From Abu Umamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to his wives, "Do not weep for this boy" (meaning Al-Husayn). It was the day of Umm Salamah when Gabriel descended and entered the house of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said to Umm Salamah, "Do not let anyone enter upon me." Al-Husayn came, and when he saw the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in the house, he wanted to enter. Umm Salamah took hold of him, hugged him, and began to play with him to soothe him. When he became more insistent in his crying, she let him go, and he entered until he sat in the lap of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny).
Gabriel then said to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), "Your nation will kill this son of yours." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied, "They will kill him while they are believers in me." Gabriel said, "Yes, they will kill him," and he took a handful of soil, saying, "From a place like this." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) came out, holding Al-Husayn, with a downcast expression, troubled and worried. Umm Salamah thought he was upset by the child's entry and said, "O Prophet of Allah, may I be your sacrifice! You told us not to weep for this boy and commanded me not to let anyone enter upon you. He came, and I let him go." But he did not respond to her. He went out to his companions, who were sitting, and said to them, "My nation will kill this one," pointing to Al-Husayn, "in the presence of Abu Bakr and Umar," who were the most daring of the people towards him. They both said, "O Prophet of Allah, will they kill him while they are believers?" He replied, "Yes, this is his soil," and showed it to them...
