- .... Ibn Asakir narrated in his History from Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Yazid, may Allah not bless Yazid, the one who strikes and curses. Indeed, the news of my beloved Hussein has been brought to me. I was shown his soil and saw his killer." He then added, "He will not be killed among a people without Allah supporting him, except that they will be punished by His wrath."

- .... Al-Tabarani narrated in al-Kabir and Ibn Sa'd from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Gabriel informed me that my son Hussein will be killed in the land of Taff, and he came to me with this soil and told me that it will be his resting place."

- .... Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated from Thabit, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with them), who said: The Angel of Rain asked for permission to come to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he granted it to him. Then he said to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Keep the door closed; no one should enter." Then Hussein came, and he jumped until he entered and began to climb onto the shoulder of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). The angel said: "Do you love him?" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied, "Yes." The angel said: "Your community will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." Then he struck his hand and showed him red earth. Umm Salamah took that earth and tucked it into the corner of her garment, saying: "We used to hear of his being killed in Karbala."

Al-Bayhaqi narrated it from the narration of Wahb ibn Rabi'ah and added, saying: Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day, then woke up looking distressed. Then he lay down and slept again, and woke up looking distressed as he had not in the first instance Then he lay down and woke up with red soil in his hand, kissing it. I said, "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Gabriel informed me that my son will be killed in the land of Iraq." I said to him, "O Gabriel, show me the soil of the earth." He replied, "This is its soil."

- .... Al-Bazzar narrated from Ibn Abbas (peace be upon him) who said: Hussein was sitting in the lap of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and Gabriel said to him, "Do you love him?" He replied, "How could I not love him, for he is the fruit of my heart." Gabriel said, "Indeed, your ummah will kill him. Would you like me to show you the place of his grave?" He then took a handful of soil, and it was red.
- Imam Ahmad Abd Allah ibn Yahya narrated from his father that he traveled with the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), and when they reached the bank of the Euphrates, he said, "Good things, O Abd Allah." He replied, "What is that, O Commander of the Faithful?" He said, "I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and his eyes were overflowing with tears. I said, 'What is this, O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?'" He said, "Gabriel (peace be upon him) stood up from beside me and informed me that Hussein will be killed by the bank of the Euphrates, and he said, 'Would you like to smell his soil?'" I replied, "Yes," and he took a handful of soil and gave it to me, and I could not help but let my eyes overflow."
- Imam Ahmad narrated from Abu Umamah al-Bahili (peace be upon him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Do not weep for this boy," meaning Hussein, "for it was the Day of Umm Salamah." Then Gabriel (peace be upon him) descended, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to Umm Salamah, "Do not let anyone enter." But when Hussein came, she took him and hugged him, and he cried. She thought he could enter until he sat in the lap of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). Gabriel (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, your ummah will kill him." He said, "They will kill him while they are believers?" He replied, "Yes," and showed him the soil of his grave."
- Imam Ahmad narrated from Aisha or Umm Salamah (peace be upon her): that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "A mighty angel has entered the house who has not entered upon me before." He said, "Your son, Hussein, is to be killed, and if you wish, I can show you the earth where he will be killed." Then he took out red soil.
