Hadith No: 1
Ibn Adi - Al-Kamil fi Duafa al-Rijal - 151 - Isma'il ibn Abi Owais
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (525/526)
[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
- The full name of Abi Owais is Abdullah ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Owais ibn Abi Amir al-Asbahani, and he is the nephew of Malik ibn Anas, with Malik being his maternal uncle, from the people of Medina. He was known by the kunya Abu Abdullah: ....
- Ibn Abi Isma'th narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Abi Yahya narrated to us, saying: I heard Yahya ibn Ma'in say: "Ibn Abi Owais and his father used to fabricate narrations." And Abi Owais, Abdullah ibn Abdullah.
- I heard Ibn Humad say: I heard al-Nadr ibn Salamah al-Maruzi say: "Ibn Abi Owais is a liar who used to narrate from Malik on matters of Abdullah ibn Wahb."
- Al-Nasa'i said: "Isma'il ibn Abi Owais is weak."
- I heard Ibn Humad say that al-Bukhari said: "Isma'il ibn Abdullah ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Owais ibn Abi Amir al-Asbahani is the nephew of Malik ibn Anas, and he is Isma'il ibn Abi Owais, Abu Abdullah."

Those Named Isma'il
Isma'il ibn Abi Owais is: Isma'il ibn Abdullah ibn Abdullah ...
Volume: (3) - Page Number: (127 and 129)
[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
- And Mu'awiya ibn Saleh said from Yahya: "Abu Owais and his son are both weak." - And Abd al-Wahhab ibn Abi Asmta said from Ahmad ibn Abi Yahya from Yahya ibn Ma'in: "Ibn Abi Owais and his father are manipulating the hadith."
- (Margin) = al-Marwazi says: "Ibn Abi Owais is a liar," and he would narrate from Malik on issues of Abdullah ibn Wahb (al-Kamil: 2 / leaf: 128). These texts may support what al-Daraqutni narrated - and adh-Dhahabi said in his Mizan: "A prolific narrator with some leniency towards him" (1 / 222) and he mentioned him in the Book of the Weak" (leaf: 16).

Ibn Abi Asim - al-Sunnah
Chapter on what the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) informed about his Ummah dividing into seventy-two sects
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (38)
[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
78 - Bakr ibn Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi Owais narrated to me, from my brother, from Sulayman ibn Balaal, from Muhammad ibn Abi Atiq, from Ibn Shuhab, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Huraira, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "The Hour will not be established until the posteriors of the women of Dus whirl around Dhul-Khulasa, the tyrant of Dus, which they used to worship in the Days of Ignorance." This is a authentic hadith, and its narrators are trustworthy. However, Ibn Abi Owais, whose name was Isma'il ibn Abdullah al-Asbahi, despite being one of the narrators in the books of the two sheikhs, is a jurist who was considered weak. Al-Hafiz said he was truthful but erred in narrating from what he memorized. Nevertheless, he has been followed in this, as will be mentioned later....

Volume: (2) - Page Number: (358)
[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
771 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn Abi Uways narrated to us, from Abi al-Zinad, from Musa ibn Uqbah, from Abu al-Zubair, who said that Jabir informed me he heard the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "I am before you, and if you do not find me, then I am at the Pond, and the Pond is between Aylah and Mecca. There will come men and women who will be turned away from it, and they will not be given anything to drink from it." The chain of narration is sound; all its narrators are trustworthy, being the trustworthy men of Muslim though there is some weakness in Ibn Abi Uways, namely Isma'il ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Uways. However, he has been corroborated, as will be mentioned.

Volume: (10) - Page Number: (391 > 395)
[The text is long, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]
- Isma'il ibn Abi Uwais (KhM): Abdullah ibn Abdullah ibn Uwais ibn Malik ibn Abi Amir, the imam, hafiz, and trustworthy Abu Abdullah al-Asbahi al-Madani, brother of Abu Bakr Abd al-Hamid ibn Abi Uwais.

- Ahmad ibn Zuhair narrated from Ibn Mu'in: "Trustworthy but of weak intellect, not that great," meaning that he does not excel in الحديث nor is he known to perform it well, or that he reads from memory without his كتاب.

- Abu Hatim al-Razi said: "His position is one of truthfulness, and he was somewhat oblivious."

- Al-Nasa'i said: "Weak," and once he added emphatically: "Not trustworthy."

- Al-Daraqutni said: "I do not consider him reliable for the Sahih."

- Abu Ahmad ibn Adi said: "He narrated strange things from his uncle that no one else follows," and he is better than his father.

- I said: The man may have risen to that level of esteem and been relied upon by the authors of the (Sahihayn), and there is no doubt he is a source of unique narrations and anomalous reports that are submerged in the vastness of what he narrated, for he is one of the vessels of knowledge, and stronger than Abdullah, the scribe of al-Layth.

And Muslim also narrated it in his Sahih from the hadith of Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) wore a silver ring on his right hand that had an Ethiopian stone in it, and he would position the stone facing his palm .... Yet, despite this, the narrator of this from Sulaiman was Isma'il, meaning Ibn Abi Uyays, and he is weak. Al-Nasa'i accused him of a reprehensible matter, which he reported from Salamah about him, so his narration should not be accepted as reliable....

Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi Khaythama wrote to me: I heard Yahya ibn Ma'in say: "Isma'il ibn Abi Awis is truthful but has weak intellect, nothing remarkable." 6093 - "Killing a man in cold blood": This means to restrain him and kill him not in battle and without right (as expiation for what) has happened (before it from sins) altogether, even major ones, as the unrestricted nature of this report suggests. And in another narration, it is mentioned that the killer leaves nothing upon the killed of sin (al-Bazzar) in his Musnad (from Abu Huraira). 7854 - "He did not honor his father if he cast a glance at him in anger": And there is no response to honor except disrespect, indicating that disrespect can occur not only through words and actions but also through a mere glance that conveys anger. Allah has condemned disrespect in His Book, and there have come from the Sunnah regarding it teachings that are hardly countable. And it is a reprehensible trait, a sign of a bad end, unless Allah overlooks the servant with His mercy and pardon. Hence, it is regarded as one of the greatest sins. And if a glance of anger is considered disrespect towards a father, it is even more so towards a mother, as she is to be prioritized in honor and gentleness. (Tafsir al-Tabari and Ibn Marduyah) in his interpretation (from Aisha) Al-Haythami said: "It contains Salih ibn Musa, who is unreliable."

9120 - Sudden death is a relief for the believer: that is, for one who is prepared for death and vigilant of it, so it is not unwelcome in his case, unlike one who is unprepared for it, as he alludes to with his statement (and a seizure of regret for the transgressor) meaning the unbeliever or the sinful, regarding what was mentioned. And Ibrahim al-Khalil (peace be upon him) died without illness, as explained by many, and Ibn al-Sakhn al-Hijri stated: Ibrahim, Dawud, and Sulayman (peace be upon them) died suddenly.... 995 - Ibn Bilal al-Harith said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) during one of his travels, and he went out for his needs - and he used to distance himself when going out for his needs.... I said to Kithir: What is al-Jalasa and al-Ghawr? He said: Al-Jalasa refers to villages and mountains, and al-Ghawr is the space between the mountains and the seas.... Kithir said: We did not see anyone struck by al-Jalasa except that they were safe, nor did we see anyone struck by al-Ghawr except that they could barely be safe. I said: Ibn Majah narrated from this: He would distance himself when needing to relieve himself and it contains Kithir ibn Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Auf, concerning whom they have all agreed upon his weakness, but al-Tirmidhi deemed his narration to be حسن (good).
